1. The Khoon Seng firm (t) is a Banrkek firm emod

by a Chiu Chau merahant Lei Chux-he (4 ). It has been

in existence for ever ten years and the business consists of

the expert of rice from Bangkok to South China and Singapore

and the import from South China of generalgoods to Bangkok. The fim has agencies in Hon kong and Singapore, the Kweng Cheong

) in Shing, Hongkong, and the Ming Shun Shing ("BEA Singapore. These agoneies are in a senso separate firms, but most of the shares are owned by theen Song and they might also

be considered as branch officos.

Khoon Seng have their own rice mill in Bangkok the Kwong Yang Seng, but their transactions in rice are not confined to this mill. They buy from other Chinese mills and have bought from Markwalds' as have also all the Chinese rice merchants in Bangkok. All the rice bought is sold to Chinese in Singapore or Hongkong chiefly the latter. No rice has been purchased from Karkwalds' mill during the last 3 months.

The import business to Bangkek is chiefly in Chinese food-stuffs though they also de business in gold leaf and spocie. The business between Singapore and Bangkok is in local

Chinese goods.
